well not mutch to add , as i blow the stand alone ecu ,start of last week, with a coil back feed grrr , so , more re strip of wireing and repairing ,but after a week ,managed to refit the parts and pop a quick few map/setings to get it runing ,(stressfull with settings lol/

then thought might as well add the wideband , another headack ,because of were the exhaust is i had to make a hole back of the bulk head (2 layers of steel ) then because of the large plug , had to attempt to resolder stainless wire (nighmare /with a soldering iron lol) now sorted
(still no gauges working thow/speedo/works lol

thought id add the led for the wideband heater flashers til its ready , works a treat

short video of the ms video ,, needs more tuning ,but now main problems are sorted as well as i wire had come off in the ms contector causeing stress
View My Video
more tuning when the intercooler is piped and sorted

...But can I ask a dumb ass relative newbie question? I've had 4x4's and pick-ups for years and aways kept them in RWD mode for the road, actually all the time because I prefer the feel most of the time. I love RWD though and while all my colleagues were complaining about crappy handling, I thought they were awesome because I could handle tail slides properly and hasd enough clutch control in the rough not to need 4WD so far (it's all mud stuff). I have a 4wd "sports coupe" and it's pants because you just point it and shoot and it goes, no effort requored whatsoever.

Why did you go 4wd? -was it for "****s and giggles" or did you prefer it over fw/rwd?

Fantastic project build, apologies for asking prev. asked questions?
why did i go 4x4 , well here goes , i do rwd myself, more fun,but extra grip with 4wd griping , must be more fun/2ndly it was cheep so could resist the idea/3rdly trying to run 400bhp/plus on 2wd , would be fun for burn outs but not for trackion , so ,4wd will help , plus 4 wd on corners will help the caddy , as i wouldnt reconmend a caddy ons td leaf springs with this in the front going around a corner in one piece lmao

In the golf 4Mo, audi TT, S3 etc think of it as FWD with rear wheel assist when required. There's a computer controlled clutch on the rear diff to engage the rear wheels as required when a wheel begins to slip.

You couldn't drive it as you've descried above as the front wheels can never be disconnected from the drive.

Powernut has ditched the factory controller in favour of one he made himself to control the clutch at the rear.

As to why he went 4x4, i dunno, makes a cool project though

Monkey
yep controller will work fine , simple and 2 settings 25percent moterway use/50pecnt acceletioning ,,

Very cool project!!!

Guess I'm just used to an extra stick which says "2wd, 4wd" and everything manual inbetween and that's what you get. I need to choose what I want, and crunch gears while I do it.

Man, I'd never have the patience to carry a project off like this unless I could turn it around in a couple of months!

Mmm plasma cutter, pronounced with pinkie to lip "plas.....ma" mwahhha!

basicly its alltime 2wd , which i can select 25percent/moterway 4wd or 50/50 4wd and traction , but until the tunings sorted at some point it will only be 2wd , hernce the 215 on the front ,, in theroy it will either work or not , but if i fail , i wont mess around if i get a load of problems , ill thow it in somert else ,,, as i thought if the homehome t5 bug works a treat thios should do in theroy as well ,lol, ps once ive done with my plazma it will be for sale , as its basicly new ,,,,very very handy , and fast to cut compaired to grinder/burning tackle , they basicly cut anything including glass ,, lol,

not wanting to start too much of an old debate but 4WD does not make a car corner faster...it helps with traction and not lateral / sideways grip, in fact the extra weight makes it harder to go round corners and can create understeer.

You can launch out of corners better though

But as this is going to be a drag strip type car I fully agreed with the traction issues.

Apart from rally cars which need traction on loose surfaces you dont use 4wd for many other forms or racing

this caddy has to have 4wd ,, can u imagine trying to hit power with rear leaf springs , herancw for the 4wd m lanch indepent rear suspension/for cornering/and because the front mounted engine was a bit heavy , thought it will help a lot with balanceing weight transfor , as i said ill only use 4wd for lauch/moterway ,, but imagine scooby.evo with only 2wd /evern thow they do lose power due to pulling 4wheels thew the trasmission,(all time 4wd/ this was another reason i fitted this idea ,as its easy to switch it on/25/50/0ff ,,, and dont want to be left when a evo comes around the corner , while ive only 2 wheels trying to grip ....

looking much better under there with a lick of paint.

Totally agree the Caddy needs 4WD - it would be useless without.

Cant wait to see / hear it go.
